Buyer's Guide to INFINITI Brake Sensors and Switches

What Do INFINITI Brake Sensors and Switches Do?

Sensors can alert you when parts like the brake pads need replacing, while switches help control parts that rely on electricity -- think brake lights, anti-lock braking functions, and more.

How Do I Spot Faulty Sensors or Switches?

If your brake lights stay on even when you're not pressing on the brake pedal, an ABS dash warning light comes on, or you have sudden trouble shifting from "Park," you may have a faulty switch. A bad sensor is more subtle, since you won't receive any warning signs. Instead, you'll find that you're experiencing common brake pad wear symptoms -- such as squealing or grinding noises -- seemingly out of the blue.

How Much Will It Cost to Replace a Faulty Brake Sensor or Switch on my INFINITI?

That depends greatly upon your model and the level of difficulty concerning the work involved. A brake light switch alone can run you between $10 and $70, while an ABS speed sensor can set you back up to $400. While labor does add on to the total cost, we strongly advise that you consider taking your vehicle to your local INFINITI service centre if you have any concerns about your ability to do the work safely and correctly. After all, you don’t want to put your safety at risk.
